Visita Iglesia is a Spanish word meaning "church visits". We Filipinos traditionally visit fourteen churches in remembrance of the 14 stations of the cross. We, on the other hand, visit only 7 churches and pray 2 stations for each church. Good thing it is a sunny Friday morning, as it is our first time to do the "Bisita Iglesia" since my second daughter (Ysha) was born, she is now 3 yrs and 8 mos. It is really something that Raffy and I were really looking forward this Holy Week.
Since we live in Sengkang, we walk our way to St. Anne Church at around 9:30 am and pray the first 2 station of the cross.
Then, we ride the Bus 136 to go to Church of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary to pray the 3rd and 4th Station.
We went to Kovan Mrt to go to Bras Basah Station (transfer to Yellow Lane) where our next stop is, Cathedral of the Good Shepherd. There we pray the 7th and 8th Station of the Cross.
Since our next church is quite near, we decided to just walk. However, on the way, we saw another Catholic church which is not in our list, we decided to change our list and go to the Church of St Peter and Paul for the 9th and 10th Station.
Walking further to Victoria St., we went to St. Joseph's Church for the 11th and 12th Station.
For the last 2 Station of the Cross, we ride Bus 130 and made our way to the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes.
We finished, the Bisita Iglesia at half pass 1 pm and we are all feeling hot, tired, and hungry as we have not eaten our lunch. Ysha even fell asleep thus hubby had to carry her. We decided then to go to Vivo city, to eat in Pastamania (no meat for us) and look around to cool ourselves.
All in all, me and hubby think, it was a very fulfilling day and a good way to observe Good Friday.
