Hari Raya Puasa 2010

10 September 2010

The most significant celebration for Muslims, it signifies the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. Known locally as Hari Raya Puasa or Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, the celebration is determined by sighting of the new moon on the day, before the next month on the Muslim calendar. Ramadan is the name of the one-month fasting period when Muslims fast from dawn till sunset. Muslims starts the day by wearing new clothes and congregating in the mosques early in the morning to perform Hari Raya Puasa prayers followed by visiting the graves of the departed. The celebration lasts for a month but most of the celebration is concentrated in the first three days.

Since we're here in Singapore, we decided that we might as well celebrate this occasion just so the kids will experience the other culture being observed here in Singapore.  So I just prepared some local foods  for us to feast with:

Our 10th Wedding Anniversary

04 June 2010

10 years has passed since Raffy and me decided to walk down the aile of Manila Cathedral in Intramuros to seal our love for each other and decided to build our own family.  How time flies so fast, we now have 2 adorable daughters (Nica and Ysha) whom we love so much.  Despite the ups and downs in our marriage, no words can express how much my family means to me.  And I hope and pray that whatever obstacles that come our way, our love for each other will surpass them and instead make us even more stronger.  As we have made a promise 10 years ago to God, a promise to keep , a promise to love each other till life after death. This promise is our Commitment for Life.  I definitely look forward to our 25th and 50th Anniversary celebration, and this time everybody will be invited.

As for the last 10 years of our married life, Raffy and myself have been celebrating our wedding anniversary very quietly.  We would just hug each other and greet each other in a very low tone of voice but with eyes full of love.  This anniversary is no different.  Late afternoon, we went to the church then eat out with the kids.

This time though, we took some souveneir photos,

Mid-Autumn Festival 2010

18 September 2010

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the few most important holidays in the Chinese calendar, the others being Chinese New Year and is a legal holiday in several countries. Farmers celebrate the end of the fall harvesting season on this date. Traditionally on this day,Chinese family members and friends will gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon, and eat moon cakes and pomelos under the moon together.

I was able to acquire 4 tickets for this occasion in our area.  Thus around 7:00 pm, we went in Sengkang Sculpture Park (just walking distance from our place) to join the celebration. There were some shows, stalls selling toys, food, etc.., lightning of lanterns as well as some firecrackers.  Those with tickets where given a goodie bag which contain food/snacks, lantern, and some toys for the kids.

Thus begun the celebration,

Celebrating Alysha's 3rd Birthday

22 August 2010

Ysha was turning 3 year old and we were all really excited.  How time fly so fast, all the memories of giving birth to Ysha 3 yrs ago were still in my mind.  I decided to prepare something for my second princess and invite a few friends to celebrate this occasion with us.

I started cooking around 10:00 am, so as to give me enough time to finish everything as its just gonna be me doing all the cooking but i love it.  On the menu list were, Spaghetti, cheese sticks, coctail chicken hotdog, chicken wings, menudo, rice, fruit salad, and a birthday cake.
